Peaceful and tranquil spot: Nestled in the heart of the Somme Battlefields, this former farmhouse provides a peaceful and tranquil spot, making it the ideal retreat for some quiet relaxation after a long day exploring the historic sites. It's like finding an oasis in the midst of war history.

A single feature of this former farmhouse in the middle of the Somme Battlefields stood out during my stay - the private bathroom. It was so spacious and well-equipped that I felt like royalty, with the bath and shower providing a luxurious experience. The free toiletries and hairdryer made me feel pampered, like I was being treated to a spa day. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax after a day exploring the historic sites nearby.

Very hospitable hosts, John and Jennie, with extensive knowledge of the local area and its WW1 history. Superb 4-course dinners available at a reasonable price, perfect after a long day exploring the memorials. The communal dining experience with other guests was fantastic.

Our bed was a little too firm for our liking, but our friends found theirs to be very comfortable. The toilet flushes were quite loud.

Our stay at The Silent Picket Bed & Breakfast was fantastic. After a long 9-hour drive, we were warmly welcomed by Jennie with delicious tea and homemade cakes. She recommended we visit the Thiepval Memorial, a truly humbling experience. Jennie also prepared a delicious four-course meal for us and the breakfast was exceptional. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, with a well-fitted ensuite. The property itself has a lovely garden, a fantastic library for World War research, and is centrally located near all the sites of interest. We would definitely recommend staying here.
